Blog Everyday in May

Apparently "IT'S GONNA BE MAYYY" (insert gif of Justin Timberlake circa 2000 here).  Anyway, one of my very favorite bloggers,  Jenni at Story of My Life is hosting a link-up challenge to blog everyday in may.  She has posted about it here and written out a list of topics to write about everyday.  Because I love Jenni's blog so much and I have not been blogging as much as I would like to lately I thought it would be great to try my very best to partake in this may challenge.  Now I cannot make any promises because 1. I have finals this month and 2.  Everyday is a lot.  But I will try my very best to keep up.

I encourage all of you to also try and take part of Blog Everyday in May as well.  Who is with me?!

The Bird-Murray Wedding

This weekend my childhood friend Alissa got married.  I grew up with Alissa and her whole family; they lived right next door to my childhood home for ten years.  I am not exaggerating when I say me and my sister spent almost everyday with with her and her sisters.  After we had lived in those tiny little Perris, California houses for ten years we each moved within months of each other to Riverside.  Even though we all didn't see each other as much we kept in contact and this year when I moved to San Diego I was lucky enough to be within fifteen minutes of some of the Bird sisters again.  Having them living here in San Diego my first year here has helped tremendously and now one of us is married!

The six of us ringing in the new year (either 97 or 98?) at my childhood home.

All six of us girls used to constantly talk about what it would be like when one of us got married as we played Barbies or swam in the blow-up pool in one of our backyards.  Now that they day is here, I could not be happier.  The wedding was perfect.  The ceremony was beautiful, of course I cried.  Despite being a bit emotional it was also the most fun wedding I have ever been too. It felt so relaxed, like everyone was there just to celebrate and have a good time.  So many other weddings I have been too fell somewhat like a show instead of what it should be, family and friends simply celebrating two people who love each other.

They had the wedding at Jeff's grandparent's house and had friends and family help out with everything which just added to the intimate feel of the day.

My favorite family ever partaking in their "family dance."

Delicious desserts made by Alissa's sister and my BFF Samantha.

Congratulations Jeff and Alissa! Couldn't be happier for you two!

A Prom-Filled Weekend

April has already proved to be a busy month.  I once again drove back to my parent's in Riverside this week to see my baby sister off to her Senior prom.  I made the hour and a half journey down the I-15 after class Thursday and woke up early Friday morning to go with Molly to her Mac appointment and then we got some well deserved ice storms at Nordstrom's Cafe before making some lunch at home, touching up her hair, and heading to take pictures with her friends.

Watching Molly and her friends get all dolled up for a stupid night of dancing with their friends makes me miss being that age.  At the time you don't realize it but prom is pretty cool, if you don't let it become something bigger than it is.  I have yet to find an occasion where I could get my hair and makeup done, buy a fancy floor-length dress and just dance the night away with my friends.  I doubt that will happen again until I get married, which is a bit of a bigger commitment than being someone's prom date.

How cute is she?  She went with a friend which is always more fun. Despite breaking a couple of nails (and acting like it was the end of the world) I'm pretty sure she had a good time.

It definitely made me want to go back to my senior prom and get dressed up all over again.  Why can't we have proms in our 20's? Give me one good reason.  I would definitley like to redo the dress...and the shoes. What was I thinking, I could have been so much more fabulous.

Me and my three best girl friends went together with our dates who were also friends.  Despite regretting the dress I regret nothing else from that night.

To all you kids going to prom this season, HAVE FUN and don't take it to seriously.  There is my wisdom for the day.

High Five for Friday!

1.  On the way back to my parent's house for spring break I stopped by my mom's work and we went out for sushi for lunch!  Any day with sushi is considered a good day.  Plus they gave us flowers on our plates so that was pretty cool.

2.  I dyed my hair red guys!  I have been wanting to go red for the longest time but I could never find the right red or something I was happy with.  So Saturday I went to my friend Stephanie who is in beauty school and she did it for me, and I LOVE it.  I could see myself keeping this color for a while.  I just want to look like a mermaid, that's the the dream right?

3.  After spending the day at Ikea and lunch at South Coast Plaza we finally got Sprinkles Cupcakes in New Port.  It's an obsession.  The Sprinkles in New Port also opened a Sprinkles ice cream a couple of days again, I'm gonna have to go back and try that soon.

4.  Went on a TJ Maxx shopping trip this week and go these Steve Madden nude flats for $29.99! I'm a Maxxinista!

5.  My sister Molly and I went out to lunch together this week.  This picture was taken before we ate and went back to the car to find out that she had locked her keys in the car. Our wonderful father came to bring the extra key and open the car for us so we didn't have to wait around for AAA.  Thanks dad!

How has your week been?  For those of your that celebrate, what did you do for Easter?

This is F***ing Awesome

I hope everyone who celebrates had a great Easter! Because it was a bit rainy and overcast in Orange County my family and I didn't end up going whale watching like we had planned.  So instead we had a day at Ikea and then got cupcakes at Sprinkles.  This week I also went shopping at TJ Maxx and Old Navy and went thrift shopping with my momma!  I haven't been in a while which is disappointing because it is one of my favorite things in the world to do.  Even before the Macklemore song made it cool.  Here are some of my finds.

Not completely sure what I'm gonna use this wood bowl for yet. Probably rings and jewelry or other knick knacks.

Love this old Moonshine bottle. I'll probably use it as a vase.

Okay, I have no idea what exactly i'm going to use these old tea tins for but I HAD to have them. They are just too adorable and so unique.

Yes, another jar, you can never have too many jars.  I have a ton of foods that I've been wanting to organize lately so I'm not even close to being finished with my jar obsession.

I thought this was pretty cute and I could use it in our living room when we move in August for remotes or something.  I'm not really sure if I like the way it is or if I'd like to paint it and scuff it up.  I love nautical things but I'm kind of on the fence about the whole "anchor's away" thing.  Let me know your thoughts?  Is it cute as is or does it need a revamp?
